Disgusted

I'm sure many of you out there will be able to relate to this post. Do you ever go through periods of feeling utterly disgusted with yourself. When no matter what you put on you feel you look disgusting or fat. And when you stare at yourself in the mirror all you see is frumpiness. No matter what I wear, how I do my hair or my makeup I feel ugly and disgusting. It's hard to feel sexy when you are feeling this way and it's especially hard in a marriage. I always want my husband to look at me like I'm the sexiest person on the planet but when I don't feel that way about myself it's hard to act confident.

When we met I was working in an office setting and my daily uniform consisted of sexy work clothes and heels. Now I work with kids and my uniform consists of pants and tops that can get dirty. No need to wear my hair down or put on heels. Kids grab anything and everything and heels won't be useful when I'm chasing after a kiddo who has a tantrum and decides to run away. Not only does my hubby see me in my unattractive daily wear but he sees me in pajamas more often than anything else. The minute I get home from work I change into sweat pants. No heels or cute shirts for me

I also haven't been able to hit the gym as much as I'd like. I feel like all my free time is spent cleaning, doing laundry or grocery shopping. Weekends we always have something going on and when we don't all I want to do is relax. Not to mention that it's still 100 degrees here so daily walks with the dogs or runs around the apt track are out of the questions. Energy is zapped the minute I step outside

And don't get me started on my hair. Last year I cut off my long hair into a cute bob style. I have continued to keep it short much to my husband's dismay. Don't get me wrong he likes my hair anyway but lately he has been asking me to grow it long again. So on top of feeling fat and frumpy, I feel fat and frumpy with short hair. What is it about long hair that instantly exudes sex appeal and short hair does not. Especially since my hair is in that awkward in between stage, layers are all over the place, the style doesn't sit right and the color has faded into an ugly red.Ugh

Sorry that this post is one big long bitch fest about myself. It's just so hard to feel good about myself these days. I know I need to start hitting the gym and eating better but it can be so hard at times. How do I get the motivation to get my ass up and to the gym. Are there any diets out there that really work? Can any of y'all relate?

  1. Uhhh YEAH! We all have these moments, I went through this last year, big time. Usually it only takes a week of eating well and working out and I feel amazing and sexy again, or at least on my way. I recommend a healthy week of detox (NOTHING like the Master Cleanse). The Gwyneth Paltrow detox is great, just make it work for you. Then continue to eat well after. I avoid processed foods, soy and sugar as much as possible and always notice a HUGE change right away! Hope that helps.

    You go girl!

  2. I am feeling the EXACT same way so I can completely relate! I feel frumpy and huge and my hair is short now too bleh! I am hoping to get to the gym soon but we will see! I am going to try Jessica Simpson's Dukes of Hazzard workout routine and see if it helps... http://www.tnafitness.com/fitness_models/jessica-simpsons-daisy-duke-workout-secrets-revealed/

  3. Oh I can certainly relate. Been there a few times, myself. My best advice is to develop a workout routine that you can maintain and just stick to it. Easier said than done, but I'm telling you. Always mind over matter. There are days when I don't want to go for the life of me, but when I get there and I'm going at it, I'm good.

I work 12-hr shifts, and as much as I'd like to, I do not work out on these days. I'm way too exhausted. By the time I get off work, I have just enough time to eat, shower, let my food settle for a few minutes before jumping into bed to get ready for the next day. On my days off and on the days I work 8-hr shifts, I am at the gym. Even if it's just for a mile run or one Spin class, I always feel that at least I've done SOMETHING.

And just for the record - I am 99.999999% sure that your husband still finds you to be the sexiest woman he's ever seen. We worry too much about that stuff. I'm guilty, as well, but I'm telling you - you shouldn't worry!!!!!!!!!

  4. Sure, I've felt that way lots of times. I think we all do. Got to get those endorphins going!

Right now I'm working on The New ME Diet exercise program. (I did a review of it on my blog if you are interested.) Finding something that YOU enjoy really is important, though.

    Good luck!

  5. Girl I am RIGHT there with you.. Especially about the hair issue.. I cut 17 inches off last year and now my hair is also in that in-between phase and I hate it soooo much!! (Not to mention the fact that I need some serious highlights!) On top of that I have always struggled with skin issues so on days when my face is breaking out I don't even want to leave my bed long enough to look in the mirror.

Go out and do something for yourself. Don't try to fix EVERYTHING at once, but just focus on getting one thing done. Get some new highlights/lowlights, or buy some new makeup, or just go get a mani/pedi.. And remember, "this too shall pass".. & If it counts for anything, just by looking at your pictures you are absolutely GORGEOUS!!

  6. Ahh I'm going through one of those feeling blech phases, too! Usually I can snap out of it after a week or so of trying to eat better, drinking tons of water and taking one night to do nails, face mask, body scrub, etc. for myself! You'll be feeling better soon! You are beautiful in all of your pictures!
