Day 1

Today is my first official day alone and my empty apartment is driving me crazy.

Yesterday after dropping M off I immediately went home and cleaned. When you've been gone for two weeks and barely cleaned before leaving you can bet how messy my apartment was. I literally cleaned from 230-6. That helped take my mind off things but once I sat down to relax realty set in and I looked around my empty spotless apartment and cried. Luckily a good friend of mine saved the day and invited me to dinner so I didn't have to be by myself.

My mom also surprised me by booking a trip to visit. Win she called yesterday wrote M left I was in the background crying hysterically asking her to come. She immediately booked a ticket and will arrive tomorrow. I'm so glad I won't be alone

I know I gotta get over this. Just being sick, pregnant, and alone is hard and throw in pregnancy hormones and you have one emotional army wifey

No sleep isn't helping either. After dinner my friend and I started a movie. A half hour in I left to go home cause I was exhausted. Only to get home and toss and turn all night long. Finally at 330am I fell asleep only to wake up at 530 for my dr's apt

I had my first actual apt today. I was so nervous. I dreaded the pap smear lol. When I was called to get vitals taken I told the nurse I was so nervous and tended to have high blood pressure at first. She took it, it was high and tool my pulse which was 137. She was like yup your nervous but didn't take my bp again. So when I saw the dr she expressed concerns. I showed her my vitals from when my mom took my bp at home this past week and she said that reassured her but that she wanted to be cautious and ordered more labs for me to test my kidneys and liver. She said if it was high I could be put on meds but she also told me to keep taking it at home and bring my results in at my next apt. She said it did seem like I just got very nervous but ordered the labs in case. So off to the labs I went and am hoping for good results. Im sure fatigue, stress, and nauseua and vomiting didn't help calm me down nor make my
Bp normal so we shall see what the lab results are. I'm praying they are good

One major plus of the day, hearing my peanuts heartbeat. Good and strong at I only wish M could have been there

Tomm I'll do a 10 week update. In the meantime has any of you dealt with high blood pressure during pregnancy. Any pointers or concerns?

  2. It is tough to have them gone. And tears are ok. It is hard too when your emotions are all over the place because of pregnancy too. You and your family will be in my prayers.

  3. I can't imagine how tough it must be to be pregnant and without your man:( I'm so glad to hear your mom will be visiting though!!! I'm sure it will get easier as time goes on, but it will help having her there in the beginning. I've never had high bp when I'm pregnant, so I can't give any advice there. I'd just recommend trying to relax and take it easy as much as possible...best for the baby...and you!

  4. It is hard when they are gone! Pregnancy hormones can be a pain! I dealt with high blood pressure in my first and third pregnancies and tachycardia. The docs just kept an eye on my protein levels and did regular blood testing and since I have tachycardia I was put on a beta blocker. All of my babies have come out just fine and full term!

  6. Hearing your baby's heart beat is one of the best sounds you'll ever hear! It never gets old either! I am 39 weeks and I still love hearing it at every appointment. My BP was high a few times around week 16. I had to do a 24 hour urine test and track my BP for 2 weeks at home. Everything came back normal and my BP has been fine since! Good luck with everything! I'll keep you in my thoughts.

  7. You guys are in my thoughts. I know I'm being totally biased here, but regular massage *might* be able to help with your blood pressure. One of the immediate effects of massage is lowered blood pressure and with regular massage visits the length of lowered blood pressure increases. Just a thought. You would just need to find a therapist who specializes in prenatal.

  8. I have been following your blog...don't know how I stumbled upon it, but I wanted to say congratulations on your pregnancy and hang in there. I know it's hard to be without your man (mine leaves in a week and a half, so I'm in that phase of anxious anticipation, and not in a good way, as you know). :(

I'm sure the hormones are really tough, but you know you will get through. I like to set small goals and countdown (you're already through a day-YAY, so he's one day closer to home!) to help make note that time is passing and it's getting closer to his return. I do little things like counting the number of bars of soap I've used since he's been gone, etc. I'm sure you have your own markers like this. He will be back before you know it...and how amazing that you two will be welcoming a baby.

This will be a very exciting 2011 for you two! You're very lucky! Hope you are feeling back to yourself soon, but remember it's ok to cry and feel down sometimes. Totally understandable. I'll be right there with you, crying it out, in a couple of weeks. But we will get through. One day at a time.

  11. Not sure how I found your blog either, but congratulations! I am now 25 weeks and also have high blood pressure. I went to the Dr around 12 weeks, and then 4 weeks later, both times higher then it normally is. (I account it to waiting an hour to be called back and a bad day at work, but whatever!) The Dr. had me do a 24 hour urine and checked my kidneys. I am also considered 'high risk' because of it, but everything has checked out fine with the baby. I was concerned because they say high BP can affect their growth, but he is measuring right on track, even a little big. It has been kind of nice because I have to get monthly ultrasounds done so I have an excuse to see him!

I haven't been put on medicine at all, I just have to do another 24 hour urine this week, and then closer to my due date. So far so good, but I am keeping my fingers crossed.

    Good luck!
