Hawaii!!

Hawaii is always on my list of places I want to go visit. And next year it may be a possibility.

The hubs will be deploying much sooner than expected. And for much longer than originally planned. So when he shared me the news I said he owed me a trip to Hawaii! He agreed

So next year after his deployment we will be taking the kids to Hawaii! But I don't know much about traveling there. So I'm asking y'all for help

Whose been? Favorite island? Favorite things to do? Reasonable yet nice places to stay? Shoot me your ideas. I need to start planning and saving!

  1. Nothing in Hawaii is reasonably priced. =P But there are some nice hotels that aren't super expensive. If you're looking at Oahu, you can probably find something decently priced in Waikiki. They also recently opened a Disney resort on the western side of Oahu, called Aulani. I never went there, but I can imagine it'd be fun for kids! I've also heard really good things about the Big Island and Maui. Personally, I'd like to stay on Maui. It's not a crowded place, so it's pretty laid back. Same with the Big Island, but you also have the opportunity to see the volcano. I guess it's all in what you really want to do. If you do end up going to Oahu, let me know and I can point you to some of our favorite beaches, eating places, and fun touristy things to do! :)

  2. We lived on Oahu and only visited around that island. It's the tourist one with SO MUCH to do. Tons of beautiful beaches and activities.

  3. We live on Oahu and there are a lot of options here. The Hale Koa is a military hotel on Wakikiki beach that is very, very reasonable and still nice. There is a small exchange in it and a pool and of course the beach. They also have their own luau that is probably the best priced of them all. The lagoons at Ko Olina is the perfect beach for kids. It's shallow, calm and gorgeous. Def. worth the drive out there if you have a rental car. You might want to check out the ITT here and just see what some of the options are. I know things are a bit different with small children!! If you come in the summer you can take them to Shark's Cove on the north shore to snorkle/walk in the reef. Feel free to email if you have any specific questions!!

  5. Hale Koa is the military lodging they have in Hawaii. Our friends stayed there and loved it. They did the Dole Pineapple Factory Tour and said it was great. We are planning on going in 5 years (sigh) when my daughter graduates high school.
