One Year Ago

One Year ago we found out we were expecting! I don't think I shared with everyone how we found out so I decided to do that now

The second weekend of November we went to meet M's aunt and uncle in Hilton Head. When we arrived at the hotel I wasn't feeling too good. Walking into the lobby the room started spinning. I sat down and felt better. I chalked it up to not having eaten breakfast that morning. When we went out to dinner again I felt dizzy and nauseous. I kept getting weird hot flashes and couldn't wait to go back to the hotel and go to bed.

The next day I felt better. That is until later that night. Again this feeling of extreme exhaustion overcame me. I went to bed early that night and woke up the next morning feeling very sick. I couldn't keep any food down but still drove to work that day. I spent my first two hours working running to the bathroom. I called in sick for the rest of the day and stayed home the next two. Food didn't stay down, I felt hot and flushed and just exhausted. I called my mom and she said it sounded like I had an extreme case of the flu. Since I worked with kids I figured that was the case. It was flu season after all. I went back to work that Friday and was able to make it through the day. During my lunch break I ran to Hobby lobby and Panera.Walking through hobby lobby I felt like I was going to pass out. When I got to my car and sat down to eat lunch I could barely choke it down. Although it was my favorite sandwich eating it made me gag. Something was up

My mom advised me to spend my whole weekend in bed and to drink lot's of fluids. That Saturday that's what I did. It took extreme effort to get up and even use the bathroom and food still did not want to stay down. The hubs ran out to buy me ginger ale and soup and I spent the morning in bed. He decided to go get a hair cut quick and then come home to take care of me

I popped in the movie A Walk to Remember and snuggled up with some crackers and ginger ale. For some reason I pulled out my phone and started to google Symptoms of the flu and auto correct changed it to pregnancy. So just for shits and giggles I read the symptoms. I had them all. It was impossible I thought. We had been trying for a few months but had stopped. Month after month I had taken test after test and they were all negative. I didn't want to get my hopes up. But I still ran to the bathroom to see if I had any pregnancy tests left. I found one shoved in the back of our bathroom closet and anxiously opened the package.

Those two minutes took forever. And I was surprised and happy to see two pink lines. Now when I imagined telling the hubs I planned on getting a baby onesie having to do with his work but I couldn't wait to tell him. He wasn't answering his phone so I snapped a picture of the test and sent him a text asking if there were two pink lines. That got his attention. He rushed home and we ran to target to buy more. 10 more actually and I peed on them all. All positive.

And now a year later we are so blessed to have a a happy, healthy four month old!
