Yesterday morning I woke up to some slight spotting and minor cramping. The hubs was convinced I was going into labor. I however did not think that was the case. In fact I suspected that we had a breeched baby on our hands!
So when I went in to my drs appt this morning I was anxious to see what they had to say. They couldn't fully confirm the position she was in by feeling her so they bought in an ultrasound machine. And my suspicions were confirmed. Baby girl is breech. Her head is in my rib cage. Perfect
So now I have to make an appt with labor and delivery for sometime this week. I will go in, get an iv full of meds that will relax my uterus and they will attempt to manually move her into the correct position. If they can not do that I won a c- section.
I have mixed emotions about this news. I always used to joke I'd rather have a c-section since it seemed easier than labor. That was until I went on the labor and delivery tour and saw the or room. Terrifying! Plus I don't like the thought of having my arms strapped down nor the fact that I can't hold lovebug until I'm all sewed up and stuff. But I also want to deliver her in the best way possible, which ensures the health and safety of her and I so at this point whatever the dr says goes.
I did tell the hubby he better get off work and come with me when they manually move her. Iv's are on of my biggest fears so I def will need him for moral support. Plus I hear when they try and move babies it hurts big time!
So now it's just a waiting game. Has anyone had to have their babies manually flipped. How bad is it? What about a c section. Any advice or comments you want to share in regards to those.

Oh my goodness! It seems a little early for them to be considering a version? Your baby still has time to flip on her own - you aren't even 36 weeks yet! Not to scare you, but I have heard some bad things about versions that had some very bad outcomes for baby. But there are plenty that go okay. The problem is - there is no garuantee she is going to stay flipped if they are able to move her. My baby flipped up between 35-37 weeks until she finally ended up head down for good. I would just do some more research on this if I were you!!! There is still plenty of time for her to do her own thing! Also - check out spinningbabies.com - some good tips there for helping baby turn.
ReplyDeleteFind a chiro who does the Webster technique! It can help to turn breech babies naturally and without pain! Go to http://icpa4kids.org/Find-a-Chiropractor/ and make sure in "Search For" you put "Webster Certified." Good luck :)
ReplyDeleteI had a c-section, and it was pretty bad. I couldn't hold my son, physically, for a few hours. I was out of it. I barely remember the 1st couple days. Its different for everyone but I would try to have a vaginal if you can. I know chiropractors can help turn breech babies too, but you are pretty close to your due date, so they might not. Good luck!

I know chiropractors can help turn breech babies, but you might be too close to your due date. I would try for a vaginal birth, if you can. Births don't always work out the way you want. ReplyDeleteI second finding a chiro to do the webster!! If nothing else go to the "spinning babies" website. My chiro was able to turn my baby and send me into labor about 24 hours later (i was overdue so this was good!).
ReplyDeleteThis exact situation happened to me. I opted to not have a manual version and hope that she would turn on her own (she didn't, but it does happen). Then I had a C-Section. I can answer specific questions for you if you have them, but for me, the c-section wasn't that bad. Sure, it hurt like hell, but the meds they gave me didn't make me loopy or anything and I was able to hold AJ while they wheeled me from the OR back to recovery.
ReplyDeleteMy little sister was breech for the longest time and then she flipped around. Then my mom went into labor, and she flipped again! She was at the hospital and they were on top of her trying to get that baby around. Luckily, my mom was able to birth her naturally!
ReplyDeleteI really hope you guys can figure it out. C-sections are some serious surgeries and I know I definitely do not want to have one. My older sister did have two successful c-sections, though!
Hi - I had the procedure - its called a version - but mine wasn't done until 39 weeks (and it didnt work). So my first born was delivered "regular" and my 2nd was csection. I'd be happy to email w/you about it. You can read alot about it online..I know a few people who have had it successfully done - - they were earlier along than me (and the baby was smaller).
