Hello hot flashes! From the beginning of this pregnancy my inner body temp has increased. I am always hot! No matter what the temp is outside I sleep with the air on 65 degrees! I need to be cold when sleeping!
Lately however I've been hit with random moments of dizziness. I'll be up and walking and all of a sudden feel like I'm going to pass out. I never have and I discussed it with my dr and she said it could be due to the fact that I started increasing my workouts. She advised me to drink more water and eat mini meals throughout the day.
In my birthing classes they told us the warning signs that we need to be careful for and that if you are having dizzy spells associated with black outs, blurred vision or seeing spots you should call your dr immediately. This could be a sign of high blood pressure. Luckily I haven't had any of those signs and I always take my Bp after a spell and that has been fine
Yesterday i had another occurrence. I had gone with friends to work out and then to get our nails done. I snuck a fruit bar in between but probably should have eaten more or drank more water. At the nail salon they usually have the door open and fans going. Yesterday they didnt and I started to feel uncomfortable. Then all of a sudden I started feeling like I was sweating profusely and my head, back and chest felt like it was on fire. I got up to get some water which helped. I felt better but must have looked awful cause the nail guys kept getting me more water and asking if I was ok. My friend I was with said my face was bright red and my feet looked really swollen. She also happens to be a nurse and took my Bp in her car. It was a little high but nothing to be concerned about. She told me to go home and relax. I had to work. It actually ate and felt a lot better. However I was scared
Today I'm boarding a plane to fly to Wisconsin for my baby shower. And I'm nervous about flying. I packed a bag full of sandwiches as snacks in case I start to feel dizzy or faint. I'm also wearing loose and comfortable clothes. So hopefully I will have no issues on the plane!
Have any of you flown while pregnant. Any tips? What about the hot flashes or dizzy spells?

I flew twice when I was pregnant with my daughter. Make sure to drink lots of water and bring lots of snack with you in your carry on! I had to pee so much that I was constantly taking trips back to the bathroom...it helped to stretch my legs. I'm sure you'll be fine!
ReplyDeleteI have been getting those spells too! They really scared me at first. My doctor told me to make sure that I eat more protein and make sure that I have a snack about every 2 hours (just like Harper will be eating when she is born) and that has been helping me a lot.
ReplyDeleteHave fun and good luck!
I have had the hot flashes and dizziness all throughout; but it's gotten significantly worse in the 3rd tri. They blame it mostly on my low blood pressure and tell me to make sure I'm drinking enough fluids and eating often enough, but that still doesn't help!
ReplyDeleteHave a great shower!
ReplyDeleteI had those same issues and though you should still discuss with your Dr each time, I will say that mine was just due to blood increasing in volume and I HAD to eat, if I didn't in the morning before I got ready I would get dizzy, hot, sweaty and almost pass out right after drying my hair. If it happens again make sure to lie down with feet above you, or at least sit with them up! You prob already know that, just something my RN hubby preached to me.
ReplyDeleteI flew from CA to FL (and back) when I was 5 months pregnant. It's safe to fly up until the last month of pregnancy. One word of advice, if you can, get the aisle seat, since you'll probably be getting up a lot to use the bathroom and stretch your legs!
ReplyDeleteI also had the dizziness during my pregnancy, but drinking enough fluids and eating well definitely helped me! :)

when the time comes for me I want a natural birth. ain't no one getting near my spine with a gian needle! I would also consider hiring a doula, I have known several personally and they are all so sweet. My aunt had her own midwifery practice so that is important to me too. It also freaks me out to be totally numb! I feel like you should be able to feel childbirth, it's a big deal!
